Loss, damage, or non-arrival of any parcel or the contents of said parcel which (a) is addressed, wrapped or packed insufficiently, incorrectly or contrary to the packaging requirements of the carrier being used by the insured or (b) bears a descriptive label or packaging describing the nature of the parcel’s contents. Any parcel containing personal goods to accommodate an employer or employee.
Losses (claims) being caused by infidelity, dishonesty, or any overt act on the part of the insured, associate in interest, and/or any of the insured’s employees, whether occurring during hours of employment or otherwise, or on the part of custodians (common carriers excepted), or the property insured, unless specifically endorsed herein in writing. Resulting from inherent vice, decay, clean up costs, loss of market, loss of use, latent defect, delay, changes in temperature or humidity, or other deterioration, any remote or consequential loss, whether or not arising out of a peril insured against. Arising out of loss from delivering the product to someone who obtains it by trick, false pretense, or other fraudulent schemes.
Against loss or damage caused by or arising out of;
a) hostile or warlike action in times of both peace and war, including action hindering, combating, or defending against an actual impending or expected attack;
b) any weapon of combat employing atomic fission/fusion or any other radioactive force in times of both war and peace;
c) insurrection, rebellion, revolution, civil war, usurped power, or action taken by government authority in hindering, combating or defending against such an occurrence, seizure or destruction under quarantine or customs regulations, confiscation by order of any government or public authority or risks of contraband or illegal transportation of trade. Nuclear Exclusion. Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary, it is hereby understood and agreed that this policy shall not apply to any loss, damage, or expense due to or resulting from, whether directly or indirectly, nuclear reaction, radiation, or radioactive contamination, no matter what its cause.
It is warranted by the insured that all parcels under this coverage will be shipped in accordance with all regulations of the carrier and amendments thereof.
The deductible, if any, shall be deducted from the amount of the claim or liability limit, whichever is less, on a “per parcel” basis and borne by the insured. The insured is responsible for (and entitled to) collecting any amount for which the carrier may be liable.
The insured must wait 20 days for domestic, 30 days for international shipments, to file for non-delivery claims. If damaged, the insured may file a notice of damage with Online Shipping Insurance Services immediately. All claims must be filed within 60 days of shipment to be honored. The insured will submit a completed Online Shipping Insurance Services claim form, copy of the original invoice to the consignee / original invoice from the shipper, whichever is applicable, a signed and dated statement from the consignee / receiving party, proof of damage if applicable and any additional documentation requested to substantiate the loss. Coverage does not include handling fees and insurance fees. All damaged property for which payment (not repair costs), or replacement costs have been made, must, on request, be returned to the Underwriters. Failure to hold the damaged property until the claim is fully resolved will result in the claim’s being denied.
The insured will have one (1) year from the date of the shipment to furnish any required and/or additional documentation requested by Online Shipping Insurance Services in order for the insured to substantiate said claim. Should the insured fail to provide the required and/or additional documentation within one (1) year from the ship date, the insured’s claim will be denied. Any covered loss will be promptly paid to the insured or their assignee after notice of loss or damage and the required documentation has been received and accepted by Underwriters in accordance with all terms and conditions of this coverage, unless property is replaced, at the option of the Underwriters, with like kind, function, and quality.
Upon payment for loss or damage, the Underwriters shall be subrogated to all the rights of the insured including whatever money may be recoverable. This payment excludes applicable deductible amounts corresponding to the claim settlement on account of said loss or damage from the carrier, or any of the carrier’s employees or agents, or from any other person or corporation whatsoever. The insured specifically covenants and agrees to aid the company in all manners possible to aid in securing reimbursement of said loss or damage. In the event the carrier admits to fraudulent activity from the carrier’s employees, the insured will take action against the carrier and not hold Online Shipping Insurance Services responsible for claims associated with said activity.
No suit, action or proceedings for the recovery of any claim under this coverage shall be sustainable in any court of law or entity unless the respective action is commenced within twelve (12) months after discovery by the insured of the issue giving rise to the claim, provided however, that said time limitation is invalid by the state law where this coverage is issued. In that case any such claim shall be void.
The insured or the Underwriters may terminate this policy at any time by giving fifteen (15) days written notice thereof, provided that such termination does not impact a shipment already in transit. Certified notice of cancellation sent to the insured at the last known address shall be deemed sufficient compliance with the conditions of this clause on the part of the Underwriters.

What shipping carriers can I use?
Coverage is available for nearly every shipping carrier. Some examples are: FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS, Canada Post, Australian Post, YRC, SAIA, and most common carriers/LTL Carriers.
Can I mark the outside of my packages as insured if I am a certificate holder?
Do not mark the outside of your packages as being Insured, as this can bring unwanted attention. OSIS will provide you with an insert that describes that explain to your recipient that the package has been insured and provides full instructions on how to file a claim if the package is damaged during shipping.
Are there any packaging requirements?
Shipments must be packaged to withstand the normal rigors of transit and must meet (or exceed) the shipping carrier packaging standards. Please refer to your coverage certificate for specific conditions, and ensure that your packaging follows the requirements of the shipping carrier.
Do I need a policy certificate to insure?
No, but as an insured client you receive complete coverage and lower rates. If you occasionally ship small packages, you can purchase instant coverage directly from our website.
Is there a minimum requirement to insure?

How do I pay for shipping insurance?

Do I have to do anything different with the customs form?

How do I file a claim and receive payment?
On your insurance certificate there is a web address you will use to file a freight claim.

Nominated 12 month covers to be agreed, prior to attachment on terms and conditions to be agreed by Underwriters.
PREMIUM/RATING: Declarations of all insured shipments to be submitted to
Insurers on a monthly bordereau. Premium to be charged in accordance with the premium rating as detailed within this document. Additional rating to be agreed by insurers prior to shipment.
BASIS OF VALUATION: To be valued for insurance as declared but in the event of declaration after loss or arrival the basis of valuation to be invoice cost plus the expenses of and incidental to shipping (if not already included in the cost) and the charges of insurance plus 10% upon the whole.

This policy extended to include storage if required at rate of 0.05% per month or part subject to monthly declarations. Storage cover must be purchased alongside transit cover and not on a standalone basis.
Where storage cover has been agreed, conditions of insurance will exclude any loss or losses due to mysterious disappearance and including stock taking losses.
Excluding loss or damage arising from electrical or mechanical breakdown / derangement unless there is external damage to the insured goods that can be proven to have occurred during the policy period.

CONCEALED DAMAGE CLAUSE: It is agreed that any loss or damage discovered on opening containers, cases and/or packages shall be deemed to have occurred during the transit insured hereunder (and irrespective of attachment of Assured’s interest) and shall be paid for accordingly unless proof conclusive to the contrary be established, it being understood that any containers, cases and/or packages showing visible signs of damage are to be opened immediately on the cessation of risk hereunder.
This agreement shall however only apply where such loss or damage is discovered within 14 days of the cessation of risk hereunder.
REMOVAL OF DEBRIS: This insurance extends to include costs and expenses necessarily incurred by the Assured in the removal of all debris of the property covered hereunder which may be occasioned by loss caused by any of the perils insured against. The indemnity provided by this clause shall be in addition to the indemnity provided elsewhere herein but be limited to a further 10% of the insured value of the goods lost or damaged.
REPLACEMENT OF GOODS BY AIR CLAUSE: In the event of loss or damage to the goods, insurers are to pay the cost of air freighting the damaged parts to manufacturers for repair and return, or the air freighting of replacement parts from manufacturers and/or suppliers to destination. Notwithstanding that the goods lost or damaged were not originally dispatched by air freight. Cost to be limited to an amount not greater than the sum insured of the subject matter insured.
REPACKING CLAUSE: It is understood and agreed that should outer packing be damaged from any peril insured against which renders “The Insured “ interest unfit for on-shipment or distribution, irrespective of final destination shown herein Underwriters to pay the cost of reasonable repacking expenses provided such damage occurred during the currency of the policy.
LABELS CLAUSE: In case of damage affecting labels, capsules or wrappers falling within the terms of this Contract, Underwriters shall not be liable for more than an amount sufficient to pay the cost of new labels, capsules or wrappers and the cost of reconditioning the goods. However, in any event Underwriters shall not be liable for more than the insured value of the damaged subject matter insured.
ON DECK SHIPMENTS BY CONTAINER: Includes jettison and loss overboard.
BRANDS CLAUSE: In case of damage to property bearing a brand of sale of which in any way carries or implies a guarantee, the salvage value of such damaged property shall be determined after removal of all brands and any trademarks; on containers from which the brand or trademark cannot be removed, contents shall be transferred to plain bulk containers. With respect to any merchandise and/or containers from which it is impractical to destroy all evidence of the Assureds’ connection therewith, the Assurer agrees to consult with the Assured with respect to the disposition of the said merchandise and/or containers.
LETTER OF CREDIT CLAUSE: Where the Assured is obliged to arrange insurance in accordance with any instructions contained in a Letter of Credit such cover is granted hereunder, provided it does not exceed the existing provisions of this contract wording or held covered at premium to be agreed.
Notwithstanding the above and irrespective of the Letter of Credit requirements the interest of the Assured named herein, shall always be protected hereunder against all risks covered by the contract wording.
ADMITTED CLAUSE: When cargo insured hereunder is carried in containers, it is agreed, as between the Assured and the Underwriters that the seaworthiness and/or cargo worthiness of the container is hereby admitted.
MOTOR VEHICLE CONDITIONS Standard Conditions apply but subject additionally to: ON DECK SHIPMENTS: Excluding Vehicles shipped on deck other than in containers. DURATION CLAUSE: This insurance attaches from the time the vehicle is handed over to the carrier or agent at the place named for the commencement of the transit, including where required a period not exceeding 15 days in compound whilst awaiting loading, continues during the ordinary course of transit and terminates either compound whilst awaiting loading, continues during the ordinary course of transit and terminates either: when the vehicle is handed over to the Assured or his agent at the destination named, or on delivery to a place of storage other than in the ordinary course of transit, or on expiry of 10 days from the time the vehicle becomes available for collection by the Assured or his agent, whichever shall first occur
VALUATION & AVERAGE CLAUSE The vehicle should be insured for its full market value at destination including freight if required. In the event of the sum insured being less than full market value of the vehicle at the time and place of loss, the Assured shall only be entitled to recover hereunder such proportion of the loss as the sum insured bears to the full market value of the vehicle.
DEPRECIATION Underwriters’ liability is restricted to the reasonable cost of repair and no claim is to attach hereto for depreciation consequent thereon. In no case shall liability hereunder for such repairs exceed the sum insured in respect of the damaged vehicle.
RESPRAYING Re spraying of vehicles is limited to damaged parts only.
DEDUCTIBLE The Assured shall bear the first 1% of consignment value per vehicle (or minimum USD500) as stipulated within the Certificate of Marine Cargo Insurance if greater each & every claim.

Excluding the risks of scratching, denting, chipping, bruising, marring, staining, rust, oxidisation & discolouration unless caused by an insured peril.

Excluding the risks of mechanical, electrical or electronic breakdown &\or derangement.
CLIMATIC CONDITIONS Excluding loss or damage arising from climatic or atmospheric conditions or extremes of temperature or freezing of coolant.
RUST, OXIDISATION & DISCOLOURATION Excluding the risks of rust, oxidisation and discolouration unless caused by a peril insured under the terms of the Institute Cargo Clauses (C).
ACCESSORIES Excluding loss or damage to accessories &\or portable items unless declared prior to shipment
AUDIO EQUIPMENT Excluding theft &\or pilferage of audio equipment, including but not limited to radios, CD players, speakers and similar items unless stolen with the vehicle.
OWN POWER Excluding loss or damage whilst the insured vehicle is being driven under its own power or whilst being towed, except whilst being loaded or unloaded from the carrying conveyance including containers.
THIRD PARTY LIABILITY Excluding damages, injury or liability to any third party absolutely.
MOTOR INSURANCE Excluding any claim recoverable under a policy of Motor Insurance.
CONFISCATION Excluding the risks of confiscation & seizure.
HOUSEHOLD & PERSONAL EFFECTS:
As General Cover Conditions but subject additionally to the following:
DURATION CLAUSE This insurance attaches from the time the insured property leaves the Assured’s residence or place of storage at the place named for the commencement of the transit, including where applicable whilst at packers premises being packed or awaiting shipment for a period not exceeding 30 days and terminates either:
on delivery to the Assured’s premises at the destination named, or on delivery to a place of storage other than in the ordinary course of transit, or on expiry of: 60 days after completion of discharge over side from the overseas vessel at the final port of discharge or 30 days after unloading from the aircraft at the final place of discharge, whichever shall first
AVERAGE CLAUSE In the event of the sum insured being less than the total value at the time and place of loss of the insured property, the Assured shall only be entitled to recover hereunder such proportion of the loss as the sum insured bears to the total value of the insured property.
DEPRECIATION Underwriters’ liability is restricted to the reasonable cost of repair and no claim is to attach hereto for depreciation consequent thereon. In no case shall liability hereunder for such repairs exceed the sum insured in respect of the damaged article.
REPLACEMENT CLAUSE FOR SECOND HAND GOODS In the event of a claim arising under the Institute Replacement Clause, this insurance is only to pay such proportion as the insured value bears to the cost of the goods when new based on present values.
NON CONTRIBUTION CLAUSE This insurance does not cover any loss or damage which at the time of happening of such loss or damage is insured by or would but for the existence of this Policy, be insured by any other existing Policy or Policies except in respect of any excess beyond the amount which would have been payable under such other Policy or Policies had this Insurance not been effected.
PAIRS AND SETS CLAUSE: Where an insured item consists of articles in a pair or set, the
Assured shall not be entitled to recover more than the proportionate sum insured in respect of the particular part or parts which may be lost or damaged.
FRAGILES & ANTIQUES WARRANTY Warranted that the maximum value of fragile &\or antiques
does not exceed 15% of the overall consignment value unless specifically agreed with insurers prior to the commencement of transit.
DEDUCTIBLES: As per listed on the certificate of insurance for each specific transit.
EXCLUSIONS AND SUBJECTIVITIES: all additional conditions and clauses listed on the certificate of insurance.
INVENTORY REQUIREMENTS Excluding claims for damaged or missing items unless a full valued inventory detailing the condition of goods is completed and signed by the owners of the goods and lodged with underwriters &/or broker prior to the commencement of transit. Warranted that any item valued above USD 750 is listed.
OWNER PACKED EFFECTS: Excluding breakage, scratching, denting, chipping, bruising, bending, marring, staining and tearing of owner packed effects, including trunks, suitcases and the like.
MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL DERANGEMENT Excluding loss or damage due to mechanical, electrical or
electronic breakdown &\or derangement unless there is evidence of external damage to the insured item or its packing.
MOTH, VERMIN, WEAR & TEAR Excluding loss or damage due to moth, vermin, mildew, mold, rust, discoloration, inherent vice, wear, tear and gradual deterioration.
CLIMATIC CONDITIONS Excluding loss or damage by climatic or atmospheric conditions or extremes of temperature unless such claim is recoverable under the terms of the Institute Cargo Clauses (C). No claim to attach hereto for damage to strings, reeds &\or drum heads in respect of musical instruments.
CONFISCATION Excluding the risks of confiscation & seizure.
EXCLUDED GOODS Excluding loss of or damage to cash, bank notes, cheques, travellers cheques, money orders, postal orders, national saving certificates, premium bonds, stamps, deeds, tickets, passports, manuscripts, lottery tickets or documents of any description, medals, coins, bonds, securities, jewelry, watches, trinkets, personal ornaments, precious stones & metals, furs, valuable carpets written as such, and any other article of similar description. Also excluding any accompanied luggage or any article used or worn during the course of the transit.
PERISHABLE GOODS, LIQUIDS Excluding loss of or damage caused by perishable goods, acids, paints, aerosols, medicines and all liquids.
AVERAGE CLAUSE This Insurance is subject to the condition of Average, that is to say if the property covered by this Insurance shall at the time of any loss be greater value (in the country of destination) than the sum insured hereby, the Assured shall only be entitled to recover hereunder such proportion of the said loss as the sum insured by this insurance bears to the total value (in the country of destination) of the said property.
ALARM WARRANTY It is a condition precedent to all liability of Underwriters in respect of loss &/or damage by Burglary that in respect of premises occupied by the Assured:- at all times when the premises are closed for business the burglar alarm shall have been put into full and proper operation and that such protections shall not be withdrawn or varied to the detriment of the interest of Underwriters without their consent except for general maintenance such alarms shall be maintained under Contract by the makers thereof during the currency of the
This clause is subject to all other policy conditions and exclusions.
SUBROGATION CLAUSE: The Assured shall, at the request of Underwriters or their
agents, assign and subrogate to Underwriters these at time of payment and to an amount not exceeding the sum paid by these Insurers all their rights and claims against others and permit suit to be brought in the Assured’s name but at Underwriter’s expense; the Assured further agrees to render all reasonable assistance in the prosecution of said suit or suits.
CLAIMS: In the event of loss or damage which may involve a claim under this policy, immediate notice of such loss or damage should be given to the claims handling agents detailed below or the Surveyor named in the Certificate. When submitting a claim under this policy the following documents should be forwarded: 1. The Original Certificate of Marine Cargo Insurance (or quote the Certificate number). 2. The Original or Copy shipping invoices, together with shipping specification and/or weight Notes. 3. The Original bill of landing and/or Contract of Carriage. 4. The Survey Report, or other documentary evidence to show the extent of the loss or damage. 5. The landing account and weight notes at final destination. 6. All correspondence exchanged with the Carriers and other parties regarding their liability for the loss or damage. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY PREJUDICE ANY CLAIM UNDER THIS POLICY.
CLAIMS PROCEDURE: In the event of any loss of damage following a risk recoverable under this policy, immediate notice must be reported to:

EXPRESS WARRANTIES: None.
CHOICE OF LAW & JURISDICTION: This insurance shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States of America and each party agrees to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court of the United States.
